Hailing from Christchurch, NZ – Sails Set are an exciting young band that caught the attention of Black & Red Records right from the band’s formation with their self-released debut self-titled EP. Impressed by their intriguing and explosive brand of hardcore fused with electronic elements, their fresh approach could see them being New Zealand’s answer to UK bands Enter Shikari and Bring Me The Horizon.
Formed in February 2011 by Will Duncan (vocals & synths) and Dominic Mark (guitars), the duo soon became a four-piece adding Conor Fenelon (bass) and Michael Brew (drums) to the lineup which helped to create an exciting live show that has seen their popularity rise quickly both in their hometown of Christchurch and further afield.
Despite only being together for a year, Sails Set’s refreshing attitude, determined work ethic and their dedication towards putting in the hard yards, shows a band committed to their music with a desire to make themselves heard – even being caught in the middle of Christchurch’s tragic earthquake in February of 2011 hasn’t stopped the band from pushing forward and doing what they love.
Their latest single ‘Heaven Ends Where The Party Begins’ debuted at #18 on the iTunes alternative charts, giving a hard-hitting taste of what's to come. 2012 will see a new EP, new music videos and of course, more tours from this young band that have a bright future ahead of them.
